ECRU, Miss. (WTVA) - A Ecru family thought they lost everything in a house fire, until a firefighter walked out the burned home with their puppy named Spot.
"There's no way he could have been saved but then we saw the firefighter come out with him in his hands. We were like omg he's alive," said Ruby Montes.
The family said a figherfighter found the dog underneath a burned couch in the living room, scared.
Montes said the dog is doing well and they will take him to the vet soon to confirm.
The daughters got a call from neighbors about their parents' Ecru home being up in flames around noon.
"I was just in shock. They are losing everything. So me and my sister broke down in tears," explained Montes.
The family of four lost almost everything including their pet pigeons.
They were able to salvage some of their childhood photos which they say helped them during this difficult time.
"It was really powerful. It was very emotional to see, with everything that burned none of the memories were lost."
The cause of the blaze is still under investigation.
