FULTON, Miss. (WTVA) - Northern District Public Service Commissioner Brandon Presley joined the Itawamba Crossroads Ranch for a natural gas ribbon cutting.
The ribbon-cutting took place on July 22, 2021, in northern Itawamba County and was in celebration of gas lines to five duplex houses. Each building consists of two separate apartments.
The duplexes will provide housing for 10 male residents. The gas itself will serve those residents and provide for the Itawamba Ranch's main lodge for a commercial-sized kitchen where the residents' meals will be prepared and served.
The gas lines will also provide natural gas to 29 homes in the area.
Presley, a lifelong resident of Nettleton, MS, was elected Public Service Commissioner for the Northern District of Mississippi in 2007, re-elected in 2011, 2015, and most recently in 2019 without opposition. He said the gas lines kill two birds with one stone: they're economical and provide a needed resource.
"Itawamba Crossroads Ranch is a prime example of community and faith-based leadership meeting the needs of our people," Presley said. "This project will help save the Ranch money and bring natural gas to area residents also. My heartfelt thanks goes to Fulton city officials for expediting this request."
Fulton city leaders, Itawamba County officials, and legislators all joined Presley to attend the ribbon-cutting and celebrate the infrastructure improvements.
