AMORY, Miss. (WTVA) - With heavy rainfall likely to enter the area this week, the city of Amory is making sure roads can withstand all of the water.

Mayor Brad Blalock said the city's public works department have been cleaning and digging deeper ditches on Boulevard Drive.

He warns residents to never cross high water.

"If they see water over the roadway or any type of limb breakage or anything like that associated with bad weather, the best thing to do is call the police department and they will see to it that the street department and public works are notified and we can get out there to them.”

Several inches of rain is expected this week.
