PONTOTOC COUNTY, Miss. (WTVA)- Nina Frederick said she missed the Pontotoc County Fair and she’s glad it’s back.
“It was so much stuff canceled and we didn’t get together," said Frederick. "But I’m so glad it’s coming back this year and we’ll get to have fun again.”
Frederick isn't the only one excited about the comeback.
Fair Board President Tommy Newell said he’s excited about today’s turnout and shared just how much work goes into making the county fair a success.
“A lot, it is unreal. We have 13 fair board members that work really hard," said Newell. "We just love to do this for our community.”
Today’s fair events included the Miss Rodeo Horsemanship Competition and a livestock show. Participant Aubri Hutcheson said the show takes some serious preparation.
“You have to bathe your sheep, you have to blow dry them and everything, you have to sheer them," said Hutcheson.
The fun continues into the week, as crews set up the fair rides starting tomorrow.
“I'm excited about the fair coming back so we get to get out and mingle with folks," said Frederick. "My grandson who is eight loves it, I love to watch him have fun and it makes me have fun.”
