Pontotoc Co. house fire possibly caused by lightning

Lightning is believed to be the cause of a house fire in Pontotoc County.

PONTOTOC COUNTY, Miss. (WTVA) - A home in Pontotoc County is a total loss after a fire that may have been caused by lightning. 

It happened on Jackson Road, between Algoma and Pontotoc. 

Pontotoc fireman Brad Ball says it is being investigated but they do believe it was caused by lightning from Saturday night's storms. 

Ball says a 911 call came in around 2:30 a.m. on Sunday.

The homeowner was inside the home at the time of the fire. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
