Police make more arrests for weekend fight in Starkville

Starkville police continue to make arrests after a fight broke out early Sunday morning in the Cotton District.

STARKVILLE, Miss. (WTVA) - Starkville police have now made four arrests after a viral fight in the Cotton District.

On Wednesday, police arrested Harrison Porter, 22, of Ridgeland, and Stephen Jernigan II, 22, of Lake Village, Arkansas, for simple assault.

The fight happened early Sunday morning on the lawn of St. Joseph Catholic Church on University Drive.

Police believe Porter and Jernigan started the fight by verbally assaulting an intoxicated female.

Starkville police previously arrested Nathan Cvitanovich, 22, of D’Iberville, and Dakota Husser, 23, of Biloxi, for the same charge.

Police expect to make more arrests.

Starkville police officers also served Porter a simple assault warrant issued for a Sept. 29, 2018, incident in which he allegedly physically assaulted a 53-year-old man on University Drive.
