TUPELO, Miss. (WTVA) - Police have made three arrests in connection to a weekend shooting in east Tupelo.
The shooting happened Sunday afternoon in the area of Canal and Martin streets. Police reported no injuries and detectives have not confirmed any injuries to date.
The people believed to be responsible fled the scene before officers arrived, according to Tupelo Police. Evidence found at the scene indicated that multiple shots had been fired from different weapons.
Officers arrested 21-year-old Melton Garcia of Tupelo on Thursday for domestic violence. Police had considered Garcia a person of interest in the shooting, and he is now charged with felony shooting into a moving vehicle.
Prior to Garcia’s arrest, Police made two arrests.
Lawanda Whitaker, 36, of Tupelo, was arrested on Tuesday for felony shooting into a moving vehicle. Whitaker also uses the name, Lawanda Thomas, according to Police.
Quantario Middlebrooks, 32, of Tupelo, was arrested Wednesday for felony shooting into a moving vehicle.
Police have not released further information about the shooting. However, more arrests are possible.
