STARKVILLE, Miss. (WTVA) - Police arrested a Starkville man in connection to a weekend hit-and-run involving a pedestrian.
The incident was reported on Saturday, Feb. 9, at the Waffle House on Greta Lane.
Public Information Officer Brandon Lovelady said the victim was a female.
Officers tried to stop the suspected vehicle on Highway 12, but the vehicle continued onto Louisville Street and left the roadway near Gillespie Street.
Police said the driver, 23-year-old Javontae Harris, ran away and was captured a short time later.
He’s charged with domestic violence aggravated assault and failure to stop a motor vehicle when officers signal.
Lovelady said Harris and the victim know each other.
The victim was transported to a medical facility for evaluation. Her current condition is not known.
