ABERDEEN, Miss. (WTVA) - Aberdeen Interim Police Chief Quinell Shumpert confirms a man is in the hospital after a shooting Wednesday morning on West Monroe Street.
According to Shumpert, the victim, Patrick Word, was shot in the throat, chest, leg, and side. At last check, Shumpert says Word was in critical condition.

Police believe the shooting was caused by an argument over drugs.
Near noon on Thursday, Aberdeen police confirmed Terrance Gunn, 30, was taken into custody for the shooting. He surrendered himself to police sometime near 10:30 a.m.
Police say Gunn was on probation at the time.
He's charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
