IUKA, Miss. (WTVA) — The National Weather Service plans to be in Tishomingo County Monday to assess the damage from a weekend tornado that left behind damage in the Iuka area.
No one reported any injuries from the twister that touched down around 6 p.m. Saturday.
However, Iuka's public works department reported plenty of property damage on Sunday, especially on the north side, as well as downed trees and streets closed.
Mayor Joel Robertson said Saturday night some of those downed trees may have trapped people in their homes. People checked those homes to make sure everyone was okay and provide shelter if needed.
He reported a lot of damage around the downtown area.
The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency is asking those who experienced damage to report it by providing information and pictures at this link.
