TUPELO, Miss. (WTVA) - A large crowd gathered to celebrate Veterans Day in Tupelo on Saturday. The event was held at Veterans Memorial Park.

Veterans, active military members, and civilians took part in the event.

Councilman Buddy Palmer spoke to participants, encouraging them to seek out a veteran and thank them for their service. He believes we should honor those who served throughout the year.

"We have a tendency the other 364 days to take our military for granted," he said.

The event concluded with a song recognizing each branch of the military.
