ABERDEEN, Miss. (WTVA) - A pedestrian is dead after being struck by a vehicle early Monday morning near Aberdeen.
The incident happened at approximately 1:55 on Highway 25 near Highway 382 just outside the Aberdeen city limits.
Monroe County Coroner Alan Gurley identified the pedestrian as E.C. Morris, 72, of Aberdeen.
Gurley said an 18-wheeler struck Morris while he was walking on Highway 25.
It’s not known why Morris was there at that time of night, Gurley said. Morris was almost two miles from his home in Aberdeen.
The 72-year-old may have been disoriented and wandered too from his home in the dark, Gurley said.
The Mississippi Highway Patrol is investigating the incident.
