OXFORD, Miss. (WTVA) - An early-morning wreck in Oxford claimed the life of an Ashland man.
According to Oxford Police Capt. Hildon Sessums, the one-vehicle wreck happened Monday at the intersection of South Lamar Boulevard and Johnson Avenue.
The vehicle crossed traffic and struck a tree head-on.
Officers found the driver, 42-year-old Benjamin Ferguson, entrapped inside the vehicle.
Firefighters removed him, and medical personnel tried to save his life.
Ferguson died from injuries he received in the wreck at the local hospital.
Police are investigating the incident.
