OXFORD, Miss. (WTVA) -- Oxford's police chief said a law enforcement investigation of the group running the city's animal shelter did not turn up any activity that would prompt criminal charges.
However, a Lafayette County grand jury will now be asked to see if it reaches the same conclusion about Mississippi Critterz.
Meanwhile, aldermen Tuesday voted to have a group of citizens review the city's contract with Mississippi Critterz to make sure the group is living up to its responsibilities with the shelter.
Some people voiced criticism of how Mississippi Critterz treats the animals at the shelter.
