OXFORD, Miss. (WTVA) – Oxford police charged a young man with auto burglary.
On Christmas Eve, Oxford police responded to the area of Church Street after receiving a tip about an auto burglary.

When officers arrived, a man was seen fleeing the area of the auto burglary on foot. Oxford police identify that man as 21-year-old Allen Mathis of Oxford.
Police were able to detain him. Once officers spoke with him, police say he admitted to breaking into a vehicle, along with breaking into another vehicle earlier in the day.
He was also charged with two more counts, which makes four total counts of auto burglary. Police say the burglaries happened in the same area.
Mathis’ bond was set at $20,000 but was revoked due to him already being out on a separate felony bond.
