JACKSON, Miss. (WTVA) - The U.S. Department of Education recognized an Oxford elementary school for its excellent performance.
The Della Davidson Elementary School is among 325 National Blue Ribbon Schools for 2021.
The honor is based on a school’s overall academic performance or its ability to close achievement gaps among student subgroups.
Three other Mississippi schools received the same honor:
- Woolmarket Elementary School in the Harrison County School District
- Brandon Elementary School in the Rankin County School District
- East Hancock Elementary School in the Hancock County School District
East Hancock and Della Davidson were recognized as "exemplary high-performing schools.” Woolmarket and Brandon were recognized as “exemplary achievement gap-closing schools.”
“National Blue Ribbon schools are models of consistent excellence in teaching and learning, and these schools represent the high-quality education that takes place across Mississippi’s public schools,” State Superintendent of Education Dr. Carey Wright said. “I congratulate every teacher, school leader, student and family member who helped their school achieve this outstanding accomplishment.”
