COLUMBUS, Miss. (WTVA) - One person is dead and another is in the custody of the Columbus Police Department after an argument at Waffle House.
Police Chief Fred Shelton confirmed that the argument between a Waffle House employee and a customer turned fatal around 2 a.m. on Wednesday.
The 24-hour restaurant is located at 1205 Highway 45 North.
Shelton said 22-year-old Hezekiah Manigo is charged with murder in the case.
“A weapon was produced, and the customer sustained injuries that led to his death later at the hospital," Shelton said. "The employee is in custody this morning as our investigation continues. We will not identify the type of weapon used at this time since the case is still under investigation.”
Lowndes County Coroner Greg Merchant later identified the victim as 28-year-old Davartex Artez Fisher of Columbus.
An autopsy will be performed.
