STARKVILLE, Miss (WTVA) - Oktibbeha County is in the second week of a county-wide curfew supervisors ordered after numerous reports of large gatherings.
The curfew was extended on Monday and Oktibbeha County Sheriff, Steve Gladney, says the reasoning for the extension coincides with the curfew's success.
"On Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday night, we had over 200 calls for service," he explains. "On the same period on the weekend when they put the curfew into place, it dropped to 105."
This curfew lasts from 12 a.m. to 4 a.m.
Gladney says he and his men appreciate everyone's cooperation and is ready to return to normal patrol.
"When we were dealing with this before curfew, it was taking all my guys in one part of the county and we had no body in other parts of the county, so at least now we can do what we're supposed to do -- patrol the county, protect the county."
