OKOLONA, Miss. (WTVA) - As school begins in less than two weeks, several in the Okolona community rolled up their sleeves to beautify the elementary school.
The project was called Team Up to Clean Up.
About 50 volunteers made up of parents, teachers and school board members, spent Saturday morning picking up trash, painting classrooms and bathrooms and cleaning out the storage room.
Efforts were greatly appreciated as the new school year approaches. School Board President William Bailey was excited about the event's turnout.
"We're going to make this an ongoing effort. We want to keep our school looking this way. This is all for the children," Bailey says.
