PRENTISS, Miss. (AP) — Authorities in Mississippi say they are searching for two “extremely dangerous” inmates, including one charged with murder, who escaped from a county jail.
The Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement that 28-year-old Desmond Fortenberry and 30-year-old Marcus Bridges escaped from the Jefferson Davis County Jail Thursday night.
News outlets report that Fortenberry was being held on a murder charge and Bridges was booked into jail on an armed robbery charge.
Officials said it wasn't immediately clear where the inmates may be heading or how they were able to escape.
Authorities warned the public not to approach the men if they encounter them, but to contact law enforcement.
