ABERDEEN, Miss. (WTVA) - People in Monroe County had the opportunity to get to know their local law enforcement officers.
The well-known "Coffee With a Cop" was held at the Burger Shack in Aberdeen Thursday morning.
It was a chance to mingle with officers.
"Many times when a police officer goes into an environment, it's very hostile, it's argumentative," said event organizer Sara Nerren. "So we wanted to be able to put them into a situation where they could be cool, calm and relaxed and deal with the community in a positive way and in a positive environment."
Nerren adds they plan to have "Coffee With a Cop" four times a year.
