TUNICA, Miss. (WTVA) - A state law enforcement officer died in a crash during the weekend in Tunica County.
According to the Mississippi Highway Patrol (MHP), the wreck happened the morning of Saturday, Oct. 16 on U.S. Highway 61 near Green River Road.
A car ran off the road and collided with several trees.
The driver, 27-year-old Courtney Pride of Batesville, died at the scene of the crash.
He was an officer with the Mississippi Department of Public Safety’s Commercial Transportation Enforcement Division.
He was not on duty at the time of the crash, according to MHP.
Tunica County is located south of Memphis, Tennessee, along the Mississippi River.
