ECRU, Miss. (WTVA) – North Pontotoc School was placed on a precautionary lockdown Thursday morning after a student accidentally dialed 911.
The Pontotoc County School District posted on its Facebook page stating the school is back to normal.
“It was determined that there was never an actual threat once the investigation was completed,” the district stated.
Pontotoc County School District Superintendent Dr. Brock Puckett says a student had a phone in their pocket and accidentally dialed 911.
He says the 911 operator couldn’t understand the student because the phone was in the student’s pocket.
The operator tried calling the student again, but the student didn’t answer due to being in class.
911 was able to ping the student’s phone which revealed the location to be North Pontotoc High School.
The school is resuming as normal.
