OKTIBBEHA COUNTY, Miss. (WTVA) – There were no injuries in an afternoon house fire in Oktibbeha County.
Oktibbeha County Fire Coordinator Kirk Rosenhan says East Oktibbeha County firefighters were dispatched to Frye Road at 1:02 p.m. Thursday.
There they found a house trailer, several outbuildings and other items on fire.
Firefighters from Bell-Schoolhouse Fire Department were called in to assist with extinguishing the fire.
The two people in the house, a husband and wife, were able to escape the fire. The homeowner says she took a trip to the mailbox and when she came back in, she heard popping noises.
She says her husband and her had to burst out of the backdoor, making it out of the home alive.
As of Thursday afternoon, firefighters were still on the scene working to fully extinguish the blaze.
One firefighter with East Oktibbeha Fire Department says the home was an unusual design. He says the two mobile homes melded together, which was twice the material.
Although they lost some of the items in the home, they say they are glad they've each other.
