OKOLONA, Miss. (WTVA) - The pandemic continues to affect what school systems do to protect students' health and safety.
For that reason, the Okolona Municipal Separate School District purchased some new technology.
Daily temperature checks, for both students and staff at the front door, are required to enter the building of Okolona Elementary School.
They walk up to the thermometer and it scans their face.
Also, the school district installed five touchless, self-sanitizing stations to replace its communal water fountains and jug dispensers.
Okolona Elementary's principal said keeping students safe is the main priority
"It is our duty to make sure that our students come every day to a safe learning environment," Lealue Triplett said, "and we are trying to make sure we take all the necessary precautions."
Masks are required at all schools in Okolona.
