JACKSON, Miss (WTVA) -- Mississippi's Commissioner of Public Safety announced a new leader for the state's Highway Safety Patrol.
Commissioner Sean Tindell appointed Lt. Col. Randy Ginn to take over as the new colonel.
He takes over following the retirement of Col. Chris Gillard on Tuesday.
Ginn served as Deputy Director of the MHP and Chief of the Uniform Division for the past four years.
He joined the Highway Patrol in 1987.
