STARKVILLE, Miss. (WTVA) - The pandemic caused some local restaurants to suffer financially and even close. However, staff from two of Starkville's newest restaurants said thankfully, the businesses are thriving.
It’s been only one month since 44 Prime opened in Starkville. The executive chef said finding staff members was not an issue, unlike many other businesses that have had that problem.
Chef Jeff Thornsberry said there were some challenges opening the business, like dealing with delayed deliveries believed to be caused by the pandemic. However, he said having enough people to work is not of the challenges that management saw.
44 Prime is managed by the same people who manage the restaurant 'TASTE' that also opened recently in Starkville.
“We’ve been super super lucky with employees. We could not be more grateful to the support we’ve been shown," said Thornsberry. "We took some of our core members from our other restaurant TASTE and brought them over here - we’ve been fortunate that they believe in what we’re doing so they’re the ones that have been bringing us the new people.”
Thornsberry said 44 Prime happened after owners saw a need for a steakhouse in town.
Although TASTE and 44 Prime are managed by the same people, staff said the restaurants offer a different experience for customers.
