NEW ALBANY, Miss. (WTVA) - After discovering having a rare kidney disease, Jessica Easterling took to social media trying to find someone who would donate to her a life-saving organ.

Elizebeth McClure was a coworker of Easterling who heard she needed a kidney or she would die; so she decided to help.

"I just knew she was a single mom with two kids, and I personally lost a child and I wanted her to have that time," said McClure.

According to Easterling, the journey was not always the easiest.

"We actually had to go to Alabama and do all the testing, and I got discouraged because they told us we weren’t a match," said McClure.

Which, according to Easterling, is very common when you are being tested for a liver transplant.

Initially, the two tried a second time and received news that the match was a success.

“You never know how close you are to people until things like this happen," said Easterling.

A fundraiser will be held to raise money for the post-operation expenses at Mi Pueblo in New Albany on Dec. 30.

The transplant is scheduled for Jan. 7 in Birmingham, Alabama.
