New Albany police charged a Pontotoc man with attempted rape following an incident Monday morning at the local hospital.

NEW ALBANY, Miss. (WTVA) - New Albany police charged a Pontotoc man with attempted rape following an incident Monday morning at the local hospital.

Police Chief Chris Robertson confirmed the arrest of Dana Woods, 23.

He allegedly assaulted an employee at Baptist Memorial Hospital in New Albany.

The police chief said the assault happened near the entrance to the emergency room where employees perform temperature checks.

Robertson said Woods hit a woman and pulled at her clothes.

Woods’ family brought him to the hospital where he appeared to have suffered a mental issue or psychotic episode.
