NEW ALBANY, Miss. (WTVA) - In New Albany, e-cigarettes are forbidden in the same places as tobacco cigarettes.

New Albany Mayor Tim Kent says the city is treating the two forms of smoking the same.

This policy has been in place for the last year, but recent complaints have been brought to the city's attention.

Kent says city ordinance bans smoking in government buildings, public buildings and businesses inside the city's limits.

He says people cannot smoke within 20 feet of the building's door.

Violators of this ordinance may be fined. This also includes any businesses that allow the use of the devices.
