WINONA, Miss. (WTVA) - After seeing many races canceled earlier this year due to coronavirus, the National Barrel Horse Association held a barrel race in Winona on Saturday.
Riders of all ages came to the Montgomery County Coliseum to race in the first Turkey Dash Barrel Run.
Brandi Fleming is the Director of the 04 District. She said the coronavirus altered the spring riding season, so she put together the Turkey Dash to give riders a chance to earn better times.
“This year has been one of craziness," said Fleming. "We have missed out on so many things and our riders just want to ride. They want to have that chance to be able to run their horses and exercise.”
Fleming said the District plans to make this a yearly competition.
