TUPELO, Miss. (WTVA) -- Volunteers and staff were reunited Thursday at the North Mississippi Medical Center in a drive-by meet and greet.
Volunteers at NMMC have not been allowed to work since March over coronavirus regulations. At 1:00 PM, volunteers and staff formed a line in their cars in the hospital parking lot. As they drove by, they got to see old friends from work and briefly catch up. They also received a token of gratitude. the theme was “Volunteer to Grow Love”, and according to volunteer services manager Rhonda Weaver, they did just that.
“We just want to say that we miss our volunteers, and we’re ready for them to all come back as soon as COVID is over and it is safe for everyone to be here,” Weaver said, “but I want them to be safe, too. And take care of yourself, we love you.”
Weaver said volunteers have been calling often, wanting to come back.
She added that in any given week, they would normally have 100 to 150 volunteers in all their clinics.
