WEST POINT, Miss. (WTVA) - Police in West Point say a murder suspect has turned himself in and is now behind bars.
Chief Avery Cook says Brian Bowens turned himself in Wednesday for last month's fatal shooting of Aaron Fenton.
Fenton died at the hospital in West Point after being shot near Progress Street and Fifth Street.
The 26-year-old victim was a father to a six-year-old and a stepfather to a two-year-old, shared his girlfriend.
DarNeisha Haughton describes Fenton as a loving and caring protector.
Authorities say the suspect and victim were on the phone together shortly before the incident and decided to meet up.
Chief Cook says investigators are still trying to figure out the motive for Fenton's killing.
