Columbus collision injures reserve sheriff's deputy

Richard Brantley was thrown off his motorcycle during a collision in Columbus.

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WTVA) - An off-duty reserve sheriff’s deputy was hurt in a motorcycle collision in Columbus.

The collision happened Thursday morning at the intersection of Gardner Boulevard and Morgan Avenue, confirmed city spokesman Joe Dillon.

The Lowndes County reserve deputy, Richard Brantley, 48, was riding a motorcycle south on the boulevard.

A car was traveling northbound.

The two vehicles collided, throwing Brantley off the motorcycle.

He was taken to the hospital in Columbus but was then taken to the hospital in Tupelo.
