AMORY, Miss. (WTVA) - The coronavirus pandemic is impacting holiday plans across the area.
People in Amory are already making plans for Christmas including the installation of decorations.
The Monroe County Chamber of Commerce started a new, fun way for the community to celebrate the season. It's called "Merry & Bright Monroe."
It is a Christmas light trail set up by the community.
"There is no specific road or route,” Chamber Executive Director Chelsea Baulch said. “Our county is very large by landmass."
The Chamber is encouraging the community to decorate with lots of lights this year.
The Chamber started a Facebook group called “Merry & Bright Monroe."
"There is nothing like seeing the eyes of Christmas through children, especially with Christmas lights and things of that nature," Baulch added.
"People are just anxious, we are ready for something positive; something to look forward to."
Instead of a traditional Christmas parade this year, Amory and nearby Aberdeen plan to host "Christmas Through Monroe."
