JACKSON, Miss. (WTVA) - Lottery scratch-off tickets will go on sale in Mississippi on Nov. 25.
The Mississippi Lottery Corporation (MLC) made the announcement on Tuesday.
Prior to 2019, the lottery did not exist in Mississippi.
Due to the lottery’s absence in the state, many Mississippians would travel to neighboring Tennessee to get tickets.
The MLC has been asking businesses to apply to become lottery retailers, and it has started mailing acceptance letters to the first approved lottery retailers.
It will continue to mail acceptance letters as more retailers are approved.
“The earlier start date reflects our rapid progress,” MLC President Tom Shaheen said.
The MLC announced in June it aimed to start selling scratch-off tickets on Dec. 1.
