BELMONT, Miss. (WTVA) — Monica O'Bryan, 15, is headed home.
Law enforcement in Iowa found the teenage girl from Belmont whose disappearance triggered an Endangered/Missing Child Alert in Mississippi.
The sheriff's office in Polk County, Iowa, said officers found O'Bryan safe Sunday at a high school in Johnston, which is near Des Moines. The high school is more than 700 miles from Belmont.
Her grandmother reported her missing early last week from their home.
Belmont Police Chief Donald Thomas said 21-year- old Jared Wright picked O' Bryan up from her home. Polk County Sheriff Deputies arrested and charged Wright with harboring a runaway.
Chief Thomas filed a warrant to get Wright back to Mississippi. Thomas plans to charge the man with two felony charges.
One for kidnapping and one for enticement of a child for sexual purpose.
