MATHISTON, Miss. (WTVA) - The Mathiston Fire Department held an event to fund its volunteer efforts.
The department sold Brunswick stew and fried apple pies to raise money for the volunteer department.
The group sold 120 gallons of stew and 480 fried pies.
Tom Booth, Assistant Fire Chief, said the food sales prove the Mathiston community recognizes and appreciates the volunteer's work.
“It’s a good feeling," said Booth. "It really shows us how well the community supports us and the job that we do here.”
Volunteers sold gallons of soup for $25 and pies for $2.
