UPDATE: Cause known for brief Tupelo power outage

Tupelo Water & Light now know what caused the brief power outage in Tupelo on Sunday.

UPDATE 11/06/17 9:50 a.m.

TUPELO, Miss. (WTVA) - Tupelo Water & Light now know what caused the brief power outage in Tupelo on Sunday.

Tupelo Water & Light Director Johnny Timmons says a blistered insulator is to blame. Crews are working to replace it.

Reports of no power came from North Gloster Street and South Gloster Street, as well as downtown.

Crews quickly restored power soon after the outage occurred.

PREVIOUS UPDATE

TUPELO, Miss. (WTVA) - Power has been restored in Tupelo.

Crews got the power back on within 15 minutes.

No word on what caused the outage.

TUPELO, Miss. (WTVA) - Tupelo Water and Light report a widespread power outage in the city.

Reports of no power have come in from North Gloster to South Gloster Street as well as downtown.

Tupelo Water and Light said crews are headed out now to fix the issue.

At this time they do not know the cause.
