JACKSON, Miss. (WTVA) - A man surrendered to police in connection to a November Jackson shooting that left two young children injured at the University of Mississippi Medical Center.

The Clarion-Ledger reports Alcentera Garner, 20, surrendered to the Jackson Police Department Monday and confessed to the crime.

Garner has been charged with three counts of aggravated assault and one count of shooting into an unoccupied vehicle.

Police say a woman was driving south on State Street in Jackson when Garner allegedly pulled up in another vehicle and began shooting into the vehicle.

The victim's children, ages one and three, were struck while in the back seat.

The motive for the shooting at this time remains unclear.
