Man killed, another hospitalized after Lowndes County wreck

One man is dead after a tragic car wreck that happened early Sunday morning.

LOWNDES COUNTY, Miss. (WTVA) - One man is dead after a tragic car wreck that happened early Sunday morning.

Mississippi Highway Patrol Sgt. Derrick Beckom confirms a 2012 black Ford Mustang was traveling on Highway 69 near Concord Road.

When the vehicle ran off the road, Beckom tells WTVA that 21-year-old Ethan Persons and 22-year-old Justin Eugene Loyd were ejected out.

Persons was pronounced dead at the scene by Lowndes County Coroner Greg Merchant.

Loyd was airlifted to a medical facility in Memphis.
