Man found dead inside burned home on Thanksgiving afternoon

Clay County Coroner Alvin Carter, Jr. says the 62-year-old man was found dead inside a home on Washington Street.

WEST POINT, Miss. (WTVA) – A man was found dead inside his burned home Thursday afternoon.

Clay County Coroner Alvin Carter, Jr. says the 62-year-old man was found dead inside a home on Washington Street. The call came in about 4:10 p.m. and his body was found in a bedroom.

The identity of the man is not being released until family have been notified.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. The Clay County Coroner’s Office and the West Point Police Department are working the case. The state fire marshal will be on scene Friday.
