ABERDEEN, Miss. (WTVA) - A cold case has been cracked in Monroe County.
Monroe County Sheriff Cecil Cantrell announced Wednesday morning that Jeffery Kennedy, 54, has been charged with first-degree murder.

Monroe County Sheriff Cecil Cantrell announces the arrest of Jeffery Kennedy.
This charge relates to the death of William “Pops” Phillips in 2011.
Cantrell and sheriff's investigators would not release details about the investigation in order to preserve the case.
The sheriff said a grand jury indicted Kennedy in March.
Kennedy is currently serving a 10-year sentence for a drug conviction in Monroe County. He was sentenced in October 2018.
