MACON, Miss. (WTVA) --The City of Macon municipal court clerk has been indicted by a grand jury on embezzlement charges.
State Auditor Shad White says Yolanda Atkins is accused of taking over $2000 from the office from January 2018 to July 2019.

White says a private CPA firm submitted a tip to the state auditor's office after discovering accounting discrepancies during an annual audit.
Atkins surrendered to investigators at the Noxubee County jail.
White says she will remain in jail until she is arraigned in court tomorrow.
He says his office is asking for $4,450.79 to cover the amount taken, investigative costs and interest.
White says District Attorney Scott Colom’s office will prosecute the case.
