JACKSON, Miss. (WTVA) - The Mississippi State Department of Health (MSDH) reported 801 new COVID-19 cases and 67 new deaths Tuesday, Aug. 25.
MSDH updates its case totals each morning based on test results from the previous day.

As of Tuesday, Aug. 25, there have been 79,206 total cases of the virus since mid-March, which is when the state reported its first case. There have been 2,315 total deaths.
The state health department estimates there have been 62,707 recoveries. The MSDH usually updates its estimated recoveries total once a week.
