JACKSON, Miss. (WTVA) - The Mississippi State Department of Health (MSDH) reported 795 new COVID-19 cases and 7 new deaths Friday, Oct. 23.
MSDH updates its case totals each morning based on test results from the previous day.
New COVID-19 related deaths reported to MSDH as of 6 p.m. Thursday. Seven deaths occurred between October 17 and October 21 in the counties below.

As of Friday, Oct. 23, there have been 113,876 total cases of the virus since mid-March, which is when the state reported its first case. There have been 3,238 total deaths.
The state health department estimates there have been 97,675 recoveries.
