JACKSON, Miss. (WTVA) - The Mississippi State Department of Health (MSDH) reported 612 new COVID-19 cases and 22 new deaths Thursday, Aug. 13.
MSDH updates its case totals each morning based on test results from the previous day.
New COVID-19-related deaths reported to MSDH as of 6 p.m. Wednesday:

- Lauderdale - 1
- Marshall - 1
- Montgomery - 1
- Panola - 1
- Sharkey - 2

- Sunflower - 1
- Walthall - 1
- Warren - 1
- Washington - 1
- Wilkinson - 1
As of Thursday, Aug. 13, there have been 69,986 total cases of the virus since mid-March, which is when the state reported its first case. There have been 2,011 total deaths.
The state health department estimates there have been 49,836 recoveries. The MSDH usually updates its estimated recoveries total once a week.
