JACKSON, Miss. (WTVA) - The Mississippi State Department of Health (MSDH) reported 591 new COVID-19 cases and 19 new deaths Friday, March 5.
New COVID-19 related deaths reported to MSDH as of 3 p.m. Thursday. Six deaths occurred between Feb. 26 and March 3 in the counties below:

- Franklin 1
- Humphreys 1
- Lee 1
- Leflore 1
- Yazoo 1
Thirteen deaths occurred between Dec. 12 and Feb. 25, identified from death certificate reports.
- Clarke 1
- Desoto 1
- Hancock 1
- Hinds 1
- Jackson 1
- Jones 1
- Lafayette 1
- Lamar 1
- Madison 1
- Montgomery 1
- Panola 2
- Tunica 1
As of Friday, March 5, there have been 296,745 total cases of the virus since mid-March 2020, which is when the state reported its first case. There have been 6,783 total deaths.
The state health department estimates there have been 278,162 recoveries.
