JACKSON, Miss. (WTVA) - The Mississippi State Department of Health (MSDH) reported 517 new COVID-19 cases and 33 new deaths Thursday, Sept. 10.
MSDH updates its case totals each morning based on test results from the previous day.

New COVID-19-related deaths reported to MSDH as of 6 p.m. Wednesday:

- Clarke - 3
- Greene - 2
- Lauderdale - 2
- Lee - 2
- Madison - 1
- Monroe - 2
- Panola - 1
- Pontotoc - 2
- Tallahatchie - 1
- Tishomingo - 2
Thirteen confirmed COVID-19 related deaths between August 7 and September 1, identified from death certificate reports.

- Desoto - 3
- Holmes - 1
- Jackson - 1
- Monroe - 1
- Rankin - 1
- Sharkey - 1

As of Thursday, Sept. 10, there have been 88,322 total cases of the virus since mid-March, which is when the state reported its first case. There have been 2,656 total deaths.
The state health department estimates there have been 74,098 recoveries. The MSDH usually updates its estimated recoveries total once a week.
