JACKSON, Miss. (WTVA) - The Mississippi State Department of Health (MSDH) reported 426 new COVID-19 cases and 39 new deaths Wednesday, Sept. 9.
MSDH updates its case totals each morning based on test results from the previous day.

As of Wednesday, Sept. 9, there have been 87,805 total cases of the virus since mid-March, which is when the state reported its first case. There have been 2,623 total deaths.
The state health department estimates there have been 74,098 recoveries. The MSDH usually updates its estimated recoveries total once a week.
